New Hanover County Public Library

Located on Chestnut Street in Wilmington, the New Hanover County Public Library is not just a place to go if you're looking for books, but ghosts, too! Rumor has it that there is a ghost that frequents the library in the local history room. This ghost is believed to be a patron of the library that enjoyed researching The Civil War when he was alive. Reports say that in the local history room, there's strange "researching" noises, such as papers being shuffled around, when no one is there.
Additional reports surrounding this library include staff seeing books or files spread out across the research table when they had been put back in their place the night before. Two other ghosts that are believed to linger at the library include an elderly man who was killed in a nearby duel and a younger man.
