The Carolina Inn - Chapel Hill NC Real Haunt

  • 211 Pittsboro St.
  • Chapel Hill, NC
The Carolina Inn in Chapel Hill has been dubbed one of the top 10 most haunted hotels in all of America. Visitors can book a room at UNC's The Carolina Inn through their Boo! Package and spend the night with the ghost of Dr. William Jacocks. According to the hotel, the room used to be the doctor's permanent residence. His ghost is known to be a friendly spirit that likes to play jokes on people. Witnesses (both staff and guests) have reported the aroma of lowers and a loud ‘whizzing’ noise, among other things, while staying in the room. They’ve also seen a “finely-attired, portly” man wandering around the halls, looking for an unlocked door. If a guest opens the door, the doctor's spirit gets scared and runs off.
