Review: Hollow Acres “The Field of Misfits” 2025
Hollow Acres sleighed expectations with its first-ever Christmas haunt, delivering a fright-filled holiday nightmare that was equal parts merry and menacing. From the moment we stepped into the darkness, it felt like Christmas had gone completely wrong in the best way possible. Twisted holiday cheer, chilling surprises, and nonstop scares made this feel like a seasonal haunt done right. This was no silent night. Here’s what we thought:
Cast/Actors: 10/10
The actors were absolutely killer elves of chaos. Scares were constant, up close, and perfectly timed, making every step feel like you were about to be on the naughty list. Every character stayed fully in role, keeping the energy high with no cold or empty spots.
Costumes: 10/10
Costumes were frightfully festive and high quality across the board. Each character looked like they crawled straight out of a dark North Pole legend. Whether handmade or detailed, every costume fit its scene perfectly and added to the twisted holiday immersion.
Customer Service/Organization: 10/10
Customer service was as warm as hot cocoa. Staff were welcoming, cheerful, and incredibly helpful throughout the experience. Organization was smooth and stress-free, making the entire night feel well-planned and professionally run.
Decorations/Sets: 10/10
The sets and decorations were decked out in terrifying holiday spirit. From festive details to dark, eerie environments, every scene felt thoughtfully designed. Christmas cheer was warped into something sinister, and it worked beautifully from start to finish.
Entertainment: 10/10
The overall experience was holly-jolly horror at its finest. The atmosphere stayed lively and engaging, keeping the excitement high and the fear flowing the entire time.
Scare Score: 10/10
The scares hit harder than a sack of coal. Nothing felt predictable, and every turn brought a new shock. The close-up scares kept us jumping nonstop, making this one of the most intense Christmas haunts we’ve experienced.

Overall: 10/10
Hollow Acres “The Field of Misfits” is a must-see holiday haunt. It perfectly blends Christmas chaos with terrifying fun, proving that spooky season doesn’t end in October. This was the ultimate way to sleigh the year and end it on a scream.

Absolutely an amazing experience I love they do Halloween and Christmas spooky mamas like me adore this kind of stuff my best birthday present/place they showed out for my birthday! Highly recommend supporting this place

It was very amazing. Very interesting and fun. Lots of fun when you got. Food on deck 10/10 recommend!!!!!

We had the best time. Plenty of food, drinks, bonfires to keep you warm, corm hole boards, bus ride, safe corn maze to walk through that was scary (hardly no moon light), haunted house mostly open some covered areas. Grave yard that was great and spooky. I don’t get scared but this haunt got me for the 1st time. My family and I had a blast. Going back again this weekend. The actors were awesome, loved the side by side and the music. The owners were there and very friendly. Plenty of room to park. Everyone was so nice.

I was asked to review this Haunt and my experience there. Attended with some military friends and we had plans to visit several attractions that night. Haunt Hopping . We really wasn’t expecting it to be all that it was. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we ending staying there for the entire duration that night and wanted in on a part of it all. We were allowed by the owner after presenting our IDs to go back into the attraction and volunteer as scare actors for the night. This was the most fun I’ve had in a really really long time. No bar, no Pub, or any other dance club could even come close to matching the fun experience we shared that night. All the way home we couldn’t stop talking about the amazing blast we just experienced. The next day we were all sharing our night with my girlfriend and other mutual friends and they enjoyed hearing about it about it almost as much as we enjoyed telling it. The owner was welcoming and even held our personal belongings in a safe place until we came out for the night. I sure wish we lived local. My buddies and i would be here every night that the attraction is open. They even have kid scare actors. Which totally changed the dynamics. The little doll girl is the white dress crawling and doing back bends was pretty freaking scary. The food was great. Many options, fire pits, cornhole boards, free movie theater and the scare actors masterfully nailed each scene. We will definitely be back to recapture the best night anyone could experience. Worth every penny. Pretty cheap compared to others we’ve attended. 10//10 best haunt Looking forward to next season. BTW we are still sharing our experience with our work buddies. This is one for the books.

Best attraction in Robeson county. If you never visit Hollow Acres. You just don’t know what you missing. Yes, the line be long sometimes to enter but it’s worth it. Name a better place to be on a Friday or Saturday night. Good food, Awesome scenery, awesome actors, and free movie outdoors. Can’t beat it. BEST ALL AROUND 👍🏻

this attraction is by far the best i have ever been to, the energy, the atmosphere is so incredible, and my favorite was the clowns or insane asylum, the girls in the asylum were doing their thing. for this attraction on their second year they did so amazing. i recommend Hollow Acres “The field of misfits”!.

The workers are so passionate about what they do. Soon as you walk in the place, Your greeted with a warm and welcoming smile. Not only is the place welcoming but the it’s super safe, they have security out there just incase anything does happen(which I doubt there ever has). Don’t even get me started on the scare actors. You tell the actors work so hard with the areas they are in. The clown area was personally my favorite. The actors really do go on a whole different level when it comes to scaring. They not care about their scaring and older audience but they care about the younger audience as well. There has been numerous times where I’ve seen the actors scares a child and if the child starts to cry they comfort the child and make sure they’re okay. Normally other actors would just continue to act but that upsets the parents and then the parents would start to get hostile. This is haunt is very professional and I hope it goes many places from year . Amazing job Misfits !!!

The staff was awesome! Spooky but professional y’all! The price was worth it! This place does not compare to anything I’ve been to. Honestly, I am not easily impressed or scared, however, this place had me watching Disney movies when I got home! This place is awesome & spooky tbh!

everything was so great from the movie and food area to the haunted house, everyone was very nice that worked there and the actors were very good and very committed to their roles, everyone was on 10 with everything, the scare and entertainment never stops from when u walk in to when u walk out, u will absolutely 100% have a great time, it was definitely worth stopping and going, even if you just sit at the front and watch a movie or get some of the amazing food to eat you’ll be entertained, but the haunted house was definitely worth going through, i went through again and again, it was very scary, i haven’t been that scared ever, it was crazy, i had the best time and definitely going back next year .

I've been to a lot of haunted attractions, but this one is hands down the best one I've ever been to. Great family fun with games, food, and a movie, but the greatest scares of your life—on a scale of 1 to 10, off the charts! I will be going back every year; it was the most fun I've ever had at a haunted attraction. I love the Misfits.

It was so fun I went back twice and it was so fun and if you didn't get scared they'd make you laugh I loved it went in a group of 8 and it was awesome just sad that mother nature didn't let the corn live

This Place is awesome. 100/10 would definitely recommend and will be coming back every year and bringing more people. I can’t wait to see all that Hollow Acres and the misfits are yet to accomplish. I know they will get even better each year, although they are already frightfully good. There was multiple attraction scenes through the haunted trail so it is very well worth your money. The food that is served up front from the booths and venders that are allowed out there is top tier, and the people are so friendly and welcoming.

Absolutely the best Attraction we have been to so far. The energy level in this place is amazingly crazy. So much fun and so much entertainment that starts when you pull in. My dad and I were suggested to check this place out by a friend of my dad’s. Greatest advice ever. We will definitely be back next year. I screamed and laughed so hard that the next day my abdomen muscles were sore. I love the fact that you can hang out as long as you want after or before the trail. This place is amazing. The price was super cheap considering all that it includes. We spoke with the owners and they are super kool and so welcoming. We can’t wait to see what they have planned for next year. Highly suggested to place this on your list to visit. Awesome job.

Had some good memories at Hollow Acres “The Field of Misfits” made some good friends out there, and had some great times, ima miss it and the people there, and want to say thanks to everyone there it's a good place to be specially if you like Halloween and everything spooky, I've been to a lot of haunted house but this one is amazing, the food was good the people are amazing, and the owner is careful and looks out for everyone there, I really did in joy scaring people there and I know they just gonna get better over time, this was my second year and I never went through it until the last night with my niece, and she had a great time riding with Larry Jones and the other clowns, and she really Injoyed going through the haunted house, I want to thank you all specially Athena Hucks for letting us be there, this place is a great place to be and if y'all Missed it make sure y'all trying next year to be there it deserves 5 stars or more, and Constance Pittman can't leave her out her food was amazing them walking tacos was so good and her funnel cakes, they was amazing and so sweet they hit the spot. I know they just gonna get better in time I do love y'all and I hope you keep getting better and better Athena.

This place is amazing. My wife and I travel to find haunts at a frequent. After a 5 hour drive. We immediately realized that this is not your average Hollywood themed haunt. This haunt has character that provides a warm friendly welcome upon entering. The set has been creatively crafted of wooden slabs that sets the mood. The staff were very warm and welcoming. The actors nailed every beat. The flame thrower and mobile buggy added that extra spark of excitement that other haunts lack. The trail was very detailed with a spooky presence of the unknown lurking around each corner. This haunt has a special feel of the inner childhood that has been bottled up inside waiting to explode, has been set free. One of the best genuine haunts we have attended in a very long time. Suggestions of a few spotty areas that could use better lighting. This place is a 10/10 hands down. Will definitely come back next year. Best attraction all around. You have to visit the place. Full of character and excitement in every aspect of it. The food was amazing as well, "THE FIELD OF "MISFITS" could never be truer. Hollow Acres deserves Two thumbs up.

Ok, so this place is great! Not just for what's here now but for their potential! The people who own this and their staff are AMAZING! So... Third haunt of the night and we showed up at 11:45 pm. They close at 12:30. Pulled in to see a huge flame shooting over the fences. Parked and went in. $30 a person, $40 for fast pass. The ticket booth staff greeted you with a big smile and very pleasant welcome whereas some might have been like crap we thought we were done early tonight. We were honestly the last ones. The midway had two concessions with a nice selection. They had chicken bog, homemade and delicious! (Thank you Ladies!) There was a movie playing, music, fires, tables to sit and a photo op. The actors actually went back into place just for us. Joey the Tractor Man drove us and some characters out into the field to enter the trail. We met the owner, his son, Joe Joe and both gentlemen were truly genuine people happy to put on a haunt. This is their second year. One minute into the trail and five actors... BOOM! That's what you're looking for. Pennywise was awesome and has a fantastic dance. The trail winds around and ends back at the midway. There was supposed to be a total cornfield which will totally change the dynamic drastically but mother nature took that this year but these guys made the best of it. Total effort and dedication put into the whole thing soup to nuts. We were greeted at the end with a smile from Kristin with a request for feedback and we had a great conversation. Thank you to all the staff for giving us a good last haunt of the night tonight! We appreciate your efforts to do a first show of the night to the last show of the night!
This fledgling haunt is a must see if just to support the growth, watch it grow and appreciate the efforts this family and cast are putting out. If you are a frequent haunt goer then put this on your list just to show support to people who want to give you something great!
Good job guys...oh and Wiggles...about that $20...

Honestly, I wasn’t expecting it to be all that. I was surprised to find such quality in a small town like Fairmont but it is definitely a diamond in the rough!

Everything was good. Only suggestion I have is to make the walk way a bit more smooth. The characters were good. Loved the crystal lake. However you need a few more clowns and have more of the characters follow the customers and ones with the chainsaw chase the customers. Keep up the good work. Everyone was really nice.

Loved the family feel. Everyone was so nice, kids friendly, and great movies while hanging out. We had the food and donuts, everything from chicken bog to funnel cakes. Love that this ppace is local too. My boys had the most fun and we will definitely be back next year!
