A staple of local lore for over a century, Devil's Tramping Ground is a 40-foot circle of land in a forest near the community of Bennett. Supposedly, vegetation has not grown in the spot for well over a century, despite no discernible reasons to explain it. Stories about what occurs at the spot wildly vary, but the central belief is that the Devil himself uses it as a kind of portal into the world from the depths of Hell. After rising, typically at night, he paces back and forth within the circle and spreads his evil across the land. Other legends linked to the area include visitors never again being sane and animals refusing to enter the area. It has also been reported that animal carcasses often surround the path to this place and that items left within the circle overnight are gone by the morning.

  • Nothing there

Its basically where someone use to make moonshine.... The ground has been tested, absolutely nothing odd in the soil, just hardening from campers and people walking around on it. I will say if you walk some of the trail if you don't mark your path and your way back, you will get turned around in there. Which will give you creepy feelings( especially in the dark)and bring you out on private property far from the grounds. Also private property on the back side so be careful how far you walk. Took emf and thermal cam, caught nothing out of the ordinary. All in all, kind of a let down. Good place to camp or creep out friends though.

  • You'll definitely get a fright

It's definitely a creepy place. You will experience an uneasy feeling when you enter. A group of us went walking down one of the trails near the circle. And as we walked further down it it got so cold and it easy 90 degrees outside. There was also a big white figure near the path we were on. And small rocks were thrown all around while we sat there talking (nothing hit us). It seemed like something didn't want us there. And it is said if you try to drive over the middle of the circle you'll stall out....and that happened to us! It was a wild experience!

  • Orbs

We captured orbs in pics we took while there. That's about it. I actually live only about 10 miles from there.
